Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Int'l

About Park's Habitat for Humanity Project:

Working in partnership with Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity (CHFH), Park School has developed a unique service learning program. Through this project, Park offers its students, faculty, parents, alumni, trustees, and friends an opportunity to learn more about Baltimore City housing issues and further develop leadership and construction skills.

Park Habitat for Humanity Has Four Facets:

  1. Advocacy
  2. Building
  3. Fundraising
  4. Friends-Park House

More Information:
Throughout the year, members of the Park family work on homes in communities such as the Waverly, Pen Lucy, Washington Village, and Patterson Park neighborhoods in Baltimore City. They join forces with residents to build homes and restore neighborhoods.

Habitat for Humanity at Park offers opportunities for student leadership both on and off the campus. It gives the Park community a hands-on learning experience. Maintaining a thoughtful and productive relationship with Habitat for Humanity and the communities that it works in allows students to learn skills that they are no taught in the classroom. There is no longer substandard housing in Waverly, and Chesapeake Habitat is actively achieving this goal in Washington Village and Patterson Park - the site of Park Habitat's 6th and 7th houses. It is also where the 9th Park House and the 1st Friends-Park Hose are being built (on Jefferson Street).
